I was interviewed recently for this article by Upland Qvidian. We explored why generative AI doesn't simply automate work; rather, it reflects the quality of our thinking and how AI serves as a mirror of an organisation's professionalism, maturity, and strategic clarity.

It also examines how AI exposes strengths and weaknesses in knowledge management, proposal content, and decision-making, and why organisations should see AI as an opportunity to improve, rather than simply a productivity tool. We answer three key questions.

Is AI replacing human expertise?

AI is not replacing human expertise. But it does reflect the quality of the knowledge, processes and judgement that people provide. Organisations with well-managed information and critical thinking will achieve better AI outcomes than those expecting AI to compensate for poor foundations.

Why do different people get different results from the same AI tools?

The quality of AI output depends on the quality of the content, context and information supplied by the user. AI acts like a mirror, amplifying an organisation's strengths and exposing weaknesses in knowledge, critical thinking, and decision-making.

How should organisations approach AI adoption?

Organisations must view AI as an opportunity to improve their content management, governance and business processes rather than simply another productivity tool. In my experience, success comes from combining trusted content, human expertise and responsible oversight with AI to deliver consistent, high-quality outcomes.
